All that Jazz

My wife has a great description of really good jazz, “It’s sexy”. I love that definition, and it really describes the feelings that some of the best music can create. The tracks (below) are part of my Instrumentals playlist (with 159 songs, 12.5 hrs) that I listen to a lot while flying. Yes, I will confess that some of these tracks are not strictly ‘jazz’ if you are a purist.

But they all convey that same wonderful sexy feeling and make for great music during a romantic dinner, or to listen to during something equally ‘sexy’. So, in alphabetical order, my top sexy-jazz selections are:

A kiss under the Moonlight  The Rippingtons / 20’th anniversary

As good as it gets                  Mindi Abair / It just happens that way

At the Modern                       Joyce Cooling / Revolving Door

Between Us                             Steve Cole / Between Us

Europa                                     Gato Barbieri / Caliente

Healing Hands                      Ken Navarro / Slow Dance

Hippies on a Corner             Joe Sample / The best of JS

Human Nature                      Dave Benoit / Heroes

It’s You                                    David Sanborn / The best of DS

Notorious                               Rick Braun / Body and Soul

Paradise                                  Norman Brown / Celebration

Remember the Night            Jessy J / Hot Sauce

San Diego                               Peter White / Perfect Moment

Smiles and Smiles to go      Larry Carlton / Alone but never alone

Sneakin’ in the Back            Tom Scott / Bluestreak

Suede                                      Marion Meadows / Player’s Club

Who?                                       Richard Elliot / Chill Factor

If you have some favorites of your own you want to add to this list, I would love to hear from you…
